Last week, my whole family got sick, and twice I ended up at my local CVS waiting for prescriptions. Well, you know what happens when I am idly ambling through the drugstore, don’t you? I spend money! I find all kinds of products that I don’t really need, but because they are so cheap, I buy ALL of them! And more! Here are some of my favorite purchases from last week’s foray into drugstoreland.
L’Oreal Everstrong Reconstruct Conditoner. This was on sale for $4.99 (usually around $6.99) and it’s a big 8.5 oz bottle. I’m already a fan of L’Oreal’s Everpure Sulfate Free line of shampoo and conditioner, so I thought I’d give it a try and I love it. It has a nice rosemary mint scent, makes my hair feel silky smooth, and also makes my hair really shiny. It claims to strengthen and repair with bio-ceramide complex. I’m going to try the shampoo next, since I am already loving this conditioner. Also, the fact that this line is sulfate free is awesome because sulfates are the nasty detergents that strip your hair color, so if you have color treated hair, stay away from the sulfates. It’s also vegan and not tested on animals. Bonus!
Crest 3D Whitestrips: I actually bought the whole line of this stuff, including toothpaste, fun vibrating toothbrush, and mouth rinse. When you drink as much red wine and coffee as I do, you gotta do something to keep your teeth sparkling white. The reason I am mentioning it here is that I’ve only been using this for a few days and am already seeing some great results. My teeth are looking whiter than ever. These strips were $31.99. They make others that are more “advanced” or something, but they cost about $50 and I was already spending too much so I opted for the 10 day cheaper ones, and I think they are a pretty good buy. Just look at my teeth!
OK, hopefully you have recovered from the sight of me trying to eat you, and I deeply apologize for the nostril shot..but seriously, my teeth right?
Samy Big Curls Curl Defining Creme: I feel like I may have already mentioned this product somewhere in this blog, but I am going to repeat myself because this is such a great product for anyone with curly hair. It just makes my hair into these big, luscious spirals while taking away the frizz. I’ve tried all kinds of really expensive curly hair products, and this beats them all. It’s around $6.99.
Milani 3D Glitzy Glamour Gloss: OK, first of all, I know I have enough lip glosses. But this one was only $6.99 so it was practically free! AND how could I possibly resist a product called “glitzy glamour gloss?” I mean, really. Plus, it’s the second product in this post with the term “3D” in it. Pretty soon my lips and teeth will be popping out at you in 3D! Scary. Anyway, this is just lovely gloss. I am modeling the shade I bought, “Leading Lady” in this picture: Pretty, huh? It’s a very shimmery champagne pink and has a light texture…not goopy. This is my “Blue Steel” look.
Maybelline Pulse Perfection Waterproof Vibrating Mascara: I admit it…I only bought this because I had a $3 off coupon, which made this about $3. I’m not a big fan of waterproof mascaras because they are so dang hard to get off and I don’t enjoy scrubbing my delicate eye area. However, this is pretty decent stuff for a cheap mascara. I was really intrigued by the vibrating wand and have been wondering for a while what the deal is with all these vibrating mascaras? Seems like every brand has come out with a vibrating mascara. So this was my chance to try it out. Honestly, I don’t know what the vibration does. It doesn’t seem to make a big difference in the application. This is good stuff though…made my lashes look really long, doesn’t smudge, not clumpy, wasn’t too hard to get off my eyes. For such an inexpensive mascara, I give it high marks for making my lashes look pretty. Maybe it was the vibrating wand after all.
Rimmel London Soft Kohl kajal eyeliner pencil in Jungle Green. This is just a fun color for spring/summer. It’s a deep, emerald green that smudges well, but watch out on your lower eye area…this stuff travels if you use too much. My advice is to use a good primer under the lash line (Urban Decay is always my first choice) and then use a q-tip to smudge a little loose powder under to keep things tidy. This eyeliner was under $5 and like all Rimmel products that I’ve tried, is a winner.
